This round, gold-finished pin pays homage to the animated classic “The Great Mouse Detective” by featuring a scene where Basil is out looking for clues accompanied by his friend Dawson and their client Olivia.
The Pin on Pin elements are Basil’s right hand, the magnifying glass it’s holding, and the part of his face containing his right eye that can be seen enlarged in the glass of the magnifier.
The sparkle/glitter elements are the gold light shining through the lantern Basil is holding and Dawson’s brown mustache and eyebrows.
The fragile stencil elements are the black lines drawn in a checkerboard pattern on Basil’s green cap and green jacket.
Printed down the left back side of the original card is the code “P389-7448-2-12167’. This same code was found in a similar place on the back of at least one of the cards of other pins in this series released on the same day as this particular pin was released. Similar, but not identical, codes were found on the back of the card of other pins in this series that had different release dates.
What is unusual about this pin is that the white label containing the price and SKU number was placed on the back of the card itself, rather than on the back of the cellophane envelope the pin on it’s card was packaged into. The earliest releases in this series had their SKU label placed on the cellophane envelope.
Size, in inches, approximately 2 x 2.
Part of the Beloved Tales series.
